12th November
2010
Dear Shane,
On Thursday 7th October
2010, the Caboolture branch of the foundation, for the first time, hosted ‘Light
the Night’ an awareness campaign, to Remember, Celebrate and Give Hopeto all members of the community.
And, what a success it was. Bringing
together community groups, Woodford Scouts, Caboolture Rotary club, Wamuran
Rural Fire brigade, S.E.S & SEQUEST and Business Professional Women’s
association to assist in the event.
Over 1,350 people attended this ‘Awareness Campaign’ bringing together
ALL community members, professional, local, political, students and teachers
for this truly inspirational evening, with emotion flowing freely from each
community member that attended.
With entertainment supplied by some
of the states wonderful musicians, and our very own Ambassador, Sinead Burgess,
who wrote and sung ‘that’ special song for the night, it was truly a night to
remember.
On
behalf of not only the Leukaemia foundation of Qld, and the Caboolture Shire
Branch Inc, but also the many, many patients whom we support, I would like to
take this opportunity to thank the wonderful team from SEQUEST who assisted
with the inaugural Light the Night
event.
And,
if I could just relay to you, that the Caboolture branch has been nominated for
the MBRC Australia Day awards, for best community event, - bringing the
community together.
We
are most honoured to be nominated for this award, and we are aware, that if it
wasn’t for the assisatance received from the members of SEQUEST and the other
community groups involved, that this nomination would not have been possible.
Again,
thank you.
Yours
faithfully
Jane J McMillan
